My personal thoughts on why SEO and link building are not dead
In which scenario can SEO die?
In my opinion, SEO can die only if search engines do not integrate new AI opportunities. As with each business, if your business is not expanding services and not developing, the end is very close. In that case, time will kill search engines. And when search engines start dying, SEO will die immediately.
How do SEOs use AI to get better results?
You may think about AI in a negative way for search engines, but let’s be honest—after the launch of ChatGPT, Google and other search engines started creating prototypes and new services. You can notice that when you ask something on ChatGPT, you get a direct answer. Recently, I noticed that when you search on Google, it now integrates a system that combines answers from around five URLs and gives you a summarized response. AI tools now help SEOs:
- Create a content plan, ask questions, and get answers very quickly.
- Getting some automated or AI-generated SEO recommendations.
- Keyword research.
- Technical audits.
- Easy prediction making for seasonality and user behavior changes.

Google is not happy to see AI content on your platform. This means that Google tries to rank the best usable content. This helps search engine users see mostly linked and supported content. Remember that Google uses machine learning algorithms for identifying AI content in your text.

Another important aspect is that search engines always provide real time data without requesting it. Updated information is essential for a fast-growing world.

Many human-based factors will not allow you to lose your job if you are an SEO specialist.
- Strategic thinking: This can not be automated.

- Experiments: I can say 100% that in many cases, I solved SEO issues with some experiments. It was not written somewhere. I just tried some methods and got the solution. So AI can not experiment or suggest them, as each specific issue has specific solutions.

I think there are three reasons people are interested in the future of SEO.

There are many investors who want to understand whether they should invest in SEO related stocks or not. Of course, if you are a long-term investment lover, this matters.
Marketing expenses planning by business owners
Businesses have a plan for a year or over. Of course, marketing departments should know whether they should invest in the sphere or a channel where they can find their consumers.
SEO or link building specialists’ warnings
Many people are just now learning the basics of SEO or link building. Of course, they are interested in the future of SEO. They want to know if they learn something that is in demand, or if they should go deeper with another specialization.
Conclusion
As you notice, there are many things mentioned by AI chats and me that AI will not replace search engines. So, if AI can not replace search engines, it will not kill SEO. However, businesses should go forward with the new AI opportunities to cut costs and save time. AI should boost the productivity of SEO specialists, not be something that disturbs us.
